William Alan Copeland died peacefully at home in Woodbury after an extended illness on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Born July 26, 1948, Alan would have soon turned 76.
Alan is survived by his wife, Gwenda Brown Copeland; sons, Alan Dain Copeland of Fayetteville, William James Copeland of Woodbury and Jed Brandon Copeland of Rockvale. He is also survived by his three grandsons Dain Carver Copeland, Silas Brandon Copeland and Ezekiel Aird Copeland.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Jean Copeland; his parents, William Alexander and Helen Gibson Copeland; and sister, Judy Jones.
After receiving his BA at MTSU, Alan held many jobs including surveyor, inspector at the Hartsville and Augusta, Georgia nuclear power plants, electrical work, and finally settling and retiring as a technician at the Murfreesboro Water Department where he retired at age 65. He enjoyed the outdoors, reading and “tinkering” with anything electrical or mechanical.
As he requested, there will be no public viewing or service. However, the family would like to have a gathering later in the fall for family and friends to celebrate his life. Details will be shared at a later time.
