Ray W. Shipp, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at VA Hospital in Nashville. He was a native of Rutherford Co., TN.
He is survived by his children, Amy (Phillip) Parton and Kevin Shipp (Tisha Alexander) all of Woodbury; grandchildren, Ally Parton and her fiancé, Will Young, Jacob Parton all of Woodbury and Ashlee (Nick) Moore of Brentwood, Connor and Christian Holt; brothers-in-law, Larry Chandler of Winchester Michael (Beverly) Barrett of Woodbury; sisters-in-law, Vicky Winfrey and Katrina Haston all of Woodbury; special friends, Mike Halliburton and Dan Schau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond, Sr. and Ruby Grace Shipp; his wife, Janice Ledbetter Shipp and sisters, Ann Chandler and Jane Ship; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Bobby and Martha Barrett.
Ray graduated from Kittrell High School, class of 1965 and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. A member of New Hope Church of Christ, Ray was an electrician and owner of Ray Shipp Electric. He had a love of gardening and was an active member of the Cannon Co. Farmer’s Market. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be 4 pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at New Hope Church of Christ with visitation from 3 pm until time of service. Bro. Ralph Richardson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Coleman Cemetery.
Pallbearers include, Jacob Parton, Logan Trail, Brady Smith, Will Young, David and Cameron Goin. Honorary Pallbearers, Jerry Travis, Melvin Davenport, Dan Schau, Mike Halliburton, Bobby Knox and Cricket Bryson.
