Nelson Owen

Nelson Owen, 72, of Woodbury passed away November 11, 2025 at Willow Branch in McMinnville. Born in Cannon Co., he was the son of the late Norman and Vertrease Morris Owen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Jerry and Terry Owen.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Beth Oden Owen of Woodbury; son, Travis Owen of Woodbury, daughter, Annaliese Owen of Morrison; his beloved granddaughter who affectionately calls him Pa Nelson, McKenna Owen of Woodbury and brother-in-law, John Oden and his wife, Ellen Oden of Nashville. Also surviving are numerous cousins.

Mr. Owen was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and he retired from the State of TN Department of Agriculture after 43 years as a Livestock Specialist. After retirement, he went back to work part time at area sale barns. Nelson was hardworking and humble. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. Most of all, he loved his family and making wonderful memories with them.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2025 with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Interment will follow in Sycamore cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his co workers who were like his brothers, Koy Flowers, Mack Moss, Rob Thomas, Louie Langell, Ronnie Pack, Michael Simpson, Frank Poling and Steven Kemp.

Visitation with his family will be Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday, November 14, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
