Max Lane Obituary

Max Eugene Lane, Jr., the Man, the Myth, the legend, passed on September 4, 2022. He was born November 11, 1949 in Logan, W Va. He served his country as a US Marine during the Vietnam War, and then served in the Army Reserve National Guard. He retired from the Alvin C York Veterans Administration as the Fire Chief.

Max was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Ann Lane, his parents Max Eugene Lane, Sr., and Mary Marie Hall Lane, as well as his brother Marion Michael Lane.

He leaves behind his three children, Trinity Lane of Woodbury, Anna (Casey) Gray of Rockvale, and Max Eugene Lane III of Madison, AL. He also leaves his grandchildren Jonathan (Ashley) Moore, Darren Puckett, Elijah Gray, Orion Martin, Abigail Martin, Nathan Lane, Brandon Lane, and Lauren Lane. He also had 4 great grand children.

Also left mourn are his brothers Jack (Julie) Lane of Bridgeport, W VA, Chris (Kelly) Lane of Murfreesboro, sister Melodye (James) Zahn of Mc Minnville, claimed son Greg Jenkins, truest friend Jerry Carlton, and his aunt Jackie Hall.  There are also a number of nieces, nephews, friends, acquaintances, and more that will miss him dearly.

Max was one of a kind, appreciated nearly all food set in front of him, had a giant's heart and a helping nature. He loved God, his family and friends, a frosty mug, his Vicks Vapor rub, botany, and grew the sweetest strawberries ever tasted.

A visitation and memorial will be on Saturday, September 17 from 3 to 5 pm at Woodbury Funeral home.

A special and private scattering of ashes will be held on his birthday at his beloved home.
