Joe Warren Mitchell

Joe Warren Mitchell, age 84, of Woodbury passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro.  He was born on June 3, 1938 to his parents, Mathis Mitchell & Gracie Taylor Mitchell Foster in Cannon County.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wilma Sue Hobbs Mitchell of Woodbury; Sons, Greg & Nora Mitchell of Woodbury & Jason Mitchell of Woodbury.  Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Mitchell; and his sister, Faye Barrett.

Joe was a Christian and a member of the Center Hill Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the Army and was a sewing machine mechanic.  He enjoyed sitting around and whittling, hunting, and gardening.

Funeral Services will be at 2 PM Friday, April 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with his son, Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Cherry Cemetery. The family will receive friends for the visitation from 4 PM until 8 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kelly, Danny Hale, Jason Mitchell, Shannon Lane, Cody Stephens, David Stone, & Joe Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Readyville Tornado Relief Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
