James Young Smith

James Young Smith, 93, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at his home in Woodbury.  A native of Cannon Co., he was the son of the late Banford and Tina Young Smith.

He is survived by his 4 loving daughters, Debbie (David) Kelley and Darlene Smith both of Woodbury, Diane (Danny) Smith of Centertown and Alice (Robert) Menendez of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Michael Gann, Joshua Self, Wendy Rogers, Adam Smith and Matt Smith.  12 great grandchildren also survive and 1 great grandson to be born in May.

He was preceded in death by his parents,; his wife, Lettie Olivene Smith; grandson, Bradley Gann and brothers, Loy, Ozle and Jr. Smith.

Mr. Smith was a devoted Deacon and beloved member of Pleasant View Baptist church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a farmer.

Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Cripps and Bro. Adam Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.  Pallbearers include Matthew Smith, Matt Smith, Joshua Self, Sean Rogers, Taylor Arkon and Michael Gann.  His nephews will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
 
Visitation with his family will be Monday, March 28, 2022 from 4 pm until 8 pm and Tuesday from 9 am until time of service.
