Hubert Lee Prater

Hubert Lee Prater, 99, of Smyrna passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at The Waters of Smyrna. He was born in Cannon Co., the son of the late Dewey and Annie May Prater. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Gertrude Manus Prater, his daughter-in-law, Linda Prater and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mr. Prater is survived by his son, Jimmy Ray Prater of Smyrna; grandchildren, Pamela Nickens of Ashland City, Jamie (Matt) Green of Murfreesboro and Jason (Mary Jo) Prater of Smyrna. 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren also survive.

He was a hard worker who liked to keep himself occupied and actually retired twice—first from Werthan, and then from the Metro Nashville Water Treatment Plant. He also enjoyed tinkering and repairing cars. Highly independent, he had a knack for fixing just about anything.

His family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Agnew officiating. Interment will follow in Prater cemetery.
