Glenda (Markum) Harris Davenport

Glenda Harris Davenport, 75, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025 at St. Thomas Midtown. A native of Cannon Co., she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Ola Mae Bailey Markum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Kerry W. Harris and Alvin “Buddy” Davenport., her brother, Jimmy Markum, brother-in-law, Ed Long and sister-in-law, Doris Markum.

Glenda is survived by her daughters, Leanne (Derick) Simmons and Mary Beth (Mark) Young both of Cannon Co.; grandchildren, Dericka (Bradley) Gunter, Lauren (Logan) Poss, Will (Ally) Young and Ellianna Young; great grandchildren, Samuel Gunter, Lakelyn Young and due in September, Landry Everette Poss; and sister, Jearldean Long of Woodbury. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A member of the Center Hill Baptist Church and the Eastern Star, Glenda was retired from Samsonite and Cannon Co. High School where she was a secretary. She held a school board member seat for many years following the passing of her husband, Kerry. She was also a business owner of Main St. Deli & Bakery and Hidden Treasures. Glenda had the biggest smile, was outgoing and never met a stranger. Always ready for an adventure, Glenda loved to travel yet nothing brought her more joy than making memories with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include Will Young, Bradley Gunter, Logan Poss, Chris Harris, Justin Harris and Bradley Harris.
