David Lee "Big Un" Gay

David Lee “Big Un” Gay, 79, of McMinnville, TN. passed away suddenly at his home Thursday, May 21, 2026. Born in Warren Co., he was the son of the late Dessie Brown Gay. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita Nash.

Mr. Gay is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane Ferrell Gay of McMinnville; his daughter, Amy Gay of Smyrna; siblings, Bill (Kay) Gay of AR., Jean (Wayne) Shehan of Smithville and Tim Gay of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Chris) Davenport and Carol Reedy both of Woodbury and brother-in-law, David (Becky) Ferrell of Murfreesboro. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

“Big Un”, as he has been called most of his life, was retired from Hoover Construction. He took pride in being able to work on his farm, being a cattle farmer and hauling hay. He just enjoyed being able to work and help others. He also enjoyed watching Tennessee Titans football. He was a friend and neighbor to so many but his true loves in life were his wife and daughter.

His family will receive friends Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 24, 2026 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Blues Hill Cemetery.
