Estelle (Reed) Vassar

Estelle Reed Vassar of Woodbury passed from this life Thursday, May 02, 2019.  She was born in Cannon County on January 24, 1926.  Her parents were the late Olie L. Reed and Bessie McBroom Reed.  Also preceding her in death, her husband, Clyde Vassar, her brother, Ernest Reed and her sister, Marie Lance.

She is survived by her sister, Ocie Knox of Murfreesboro; daughter, Diana Lavon and Jimmy Simmons of Woodbury; grandchildren, Angie (Larry) Powell and Eddie Simmons both of Woodbury; three great grandsons, Blake and Brad Hutchins and Joshua Cole Simmons.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She graduated from Cannon County High School in the class of 1943.  She was a Product Directors Assistant from Colonial Corp of America retiring in 1990.  After the death of her husband, she returned to work for Pedigo Management and later for BVM Management, retiring again in 2002. 

A member of the Woodbury Church of Christ,  she loved her flowers and all types of needle work. 

Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, May 05, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating.  Interment will follow in the Riverside Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be from 11 am until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Short Mtn. Bible Camp, Billy Smith Preacher Training Scholarship Fund, Woodbury Church of Christ or Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro.
