Betty (Haynes) Smithson

Betty Haynes Smithson, age 85, of Knoxville passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital.  She was a native of Rutherford Co.

Survivors include her sons, Chip (Tera) Smithson of Woodbury & Mark Smithson of Knoxville; Seven grandchildren, Trevor, Parker, Adam (Bryanne), Eric (Anna), Amy, Kesley, & Lindsey; Four nieces, Shirley, Kathy, Lynn, & Sandy; and closest friends, Ann & Milt, Debbie, Judy & Jill.

Also surviving are 5 Great-Grandchildren.

Betty was the daughter of the late Alvin & Anna Laura Baldridge Haynes and was also preceded in death by her three daughters, Vicky Hayes, Sherry Hayes Zahn & Carol Hayes Ryan; two brothers and sister-in-law, J. W. Haynes & Ellis & Catherine Haynes and nephew, Howard Haynes.

She was a member of the Washburn Church of Christ and a homemaker.  Betty enjoyed anything to do with nature and loved all animals.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Woodbury Funeral Home.  Graveside services will immediately follow at Vaughn-Layne Cemetery in Almaville in Rutherford Co.
