Mary Elizabeth Vandergriff Carlisle, 95, passed away peacefully at home in Woodbury, Tn. On November 15, 2017.

She was born on October 14, 1922 to Harry Vandergriff and Vernice Gann Vandergriff in Mayfield, KY.  She resided in Mayfield the majority of her life until 2001 when she moved to Tennessee to live with her daughter, Judy Hankins. 

She worked at the Curlee Clothing Company for many years before her retirement.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayfield, KY.  She loved to get together with family and she loved to read.  She especially loved dogs and if there was a dog in the room, it gravitated to her, so she could pet it.  She was a joyful person, always laughing, putting others before herself and seeing the best in others. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Carlisle, parents, and her sister, Jan Nelson.

Mary is survived by her children, Judy (J.C.) Hankins and Danny (Judy) Carlisle; grandchildren, Justin (Donna) Hankins and Staci (Brian) Ausbon.  She is also survived by her great nieces, Gina (Keith) and Jami Blincoe.

The family like to give a special thanks to Suncrest Home Health in Woodbury, TN. and Hospice Compassus in Tullahoma, TN. Whose staff provided wonderful and loving care.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 6 pm until 9 pm with Bro. Tony Holt offering words of remembrance. Graveside services will be Monday, November 20, 2017 in Mayfield, KY.
