Hattie Louise Gilley Elrod, age 88, of Milton passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her home.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Eloise) Rains of Milton and Jennifer Elrod Stevens of Readyville; Grandchildren, Christy (Chris) Monnin; Jim (Katinna) Rains, Rachel Mason, Jesse Anderson, Jennie Louise Williams, & Jacob Williams; Nephews & Niece, Kenny Gilley, Bob Gilley, & Sandy Hayes.  Five great grandchildren also survive.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Betty Parton Gilley; her husband, Dorris W. Elrod; Brothers, James Robert Gilley, John Gilley, & Paul Gilley.

Ms. Elrod was a member of the Milton Church of Christ and was retired from Alvin C. York VA Medical Center as a personnel assistant.  Hattie was such a loving sweet lady who got the most joy from her grandchildren.  She had many talents and hobbies including antiques, reading, gardening, sewing, and puzzles.  She was also a member of the Readyville Home Demonstration Club.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, January 2, 2017 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Teb Batey officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 8 PM Sunday, January 1, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woods Church of Christ or Short Mountain Bible Camp.
