Eugene "Gene" Jernigan

Age 85, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home. He was born November 2, 1932 in Readyville, TN, the son of Bronson and Annebelle (Rogers) Jernigan. On April 12, 1975, he married Ruth Watson in Fort Wayne, IN and she survives. Gene will be remembered with his wife as the co-owners of Terry Bakery in Ypsilanti for twenty years, having worked there for 45 years. Gene had a fierce love for his family and friends and he was truly a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, unnatural strength, great humor, an affection for cars, trucks and tractors and living life on his own terms. Gene will be forever loved and greatly missed until we see him again. In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, survivors include: two daughters, Danni (Bill) Anderson of NC and Donna (Douglas) Hock of FL; one son Todd (Melissa) Jernigan of Britton, MI; seven grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Cortney, Noah, Alexis, Aaron and Talia; twelve great grandchildren, Hayden, Everett, Allan, Avery, Kee’gan, Kimble, Ryan, Shade, Sylvia, William, Alyssa and Samuel; three brothers, French (Janet) Jernigan, Aubrey (Bernice) Jernigan and Kenneth Jernigan, all of TN; four nieces, Pam, Joy, Kim and Teresa; and two nephews, Brian and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Sewell.

The funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, April 16, 2018 at  Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 W. Main Street, Woodbury, TN where friends may call before the funeral service. Burial will follow in Cherry Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 am until time of the service Monday, April 16, 2018.
